I´m alive

I was sitting alone. On the bench beyond the lake. With my eyes closed. Listening to the sounds of forest – the birds were spinning above my head, herons were screeching, whistling of raptors kept coming closer and further. Water of lake was hitting the rocks underneath the feet and rustle of leaves reminded me, that air is vivid. I breathe then and now, again and again, going deeper and deeper into the loneliness. Enjoying the moment of freshness and presence.   I´m alive – this is how it feels. Now and then, but it´s real. Not forever, but at this moment so truly intensive.

I´m alive – this happened to be my mantra in past few months. Everytime I´m loosing connection with the present moment (present myself) I turn back to this mantra.

I´m alive.

When you repeat it and listen to the sound of these words, it´s like magic. Something unbelievable that you´re alive now and here. That this is your life. The only life you have. It´s happening now at this certain moment, it´s in every breath you take.

It can be over tomorrow but it really doesn´t mater – you´ re alive now. Complete human being with all the mistakes and imperfections. With all the beauty that lies within.

Live it and enjoy it like that fresh breeze on your face while you´re sitting on the bench beyond the lake.

In bed with positive news

In days like these, when it´s raining heavily and you´re trying to get out from stupid sickness, you can find it both: as an opportunity and pitty as well.

For me it´s an opportunity after really long time to browse news and get the best out of it. Beside lot of negativity caused by fresh news from Ukraine or Israel, making you feel very insecure in this world, I found also lot of positivity which support my belief that world is getting closer to the bright side.

Young graduates are not just desperate candidates on McDonald´s employees but also very creative in generating job opportunities. Proofs are here in this article as well as in this particulare example of very creative individual. Second article is about a guy who created web page to promote himself and get a job in Silicon valley, which turned out to be successful project. Also it reminds me of this guy who is an inspiration for me in these days – he created lot of projects for his community, including Council of students, news portal or Messages to member of local parliament. And there are lot of such examples which persuade me that young people are worth trusting!

Also reading interviews of Karol Sudor, slovak journalist for SME, it makes me feel there are lot of people in Slovakia that are worth it.

Reading magazine Život I found very positive there are lot of good articles about Africa, finally something, which I was missing a lot before.

Talking about yoga & meditation I discovered lot of positive examples of proffesional web pages (or) talking about benefits of both excercise, which make more & more people trust in these techniques. Finally, people are discovering what used to be invisible for absence of scientific proofs and now chances to improve ourselves will rise. There was even an articles in Forbes about it.

Last but not least positive example of pure human´s happiness and ability to hold the engines of life is here. It´s an article about a girl who went to Peru cos she wanted and felt she had to go and there she found love of her life –  partner which became her husband after one month and love toward the country.

To summarize there are lot of things you can do while dying in bed and there are always options to choose from – positive ones as well as negative.

Now it´s already dark outside, rain stopped and I ´m still in my bed. From here I can hear someone playing panpipe. Amazing!

Have a nice day!

When the bus is late in summer

Last weekend I was travelling to small village in the south-west of Slovakia to visit my friend in scout camp. I had to change bus 3 times to get there and somehow I got stucked in town called Zlaté Moravce (Golden Moravian) for 2 hours. Firstly, dissapointed I decided later to walk into streets of this 13, 500 town. Things I discovered surprised me a lot.

Bus stop number 13 on 13th July is obviously bad news. It pretends to be ready but drivers enjoy their freetime chatting about their kids and smoking. Time slows down.

So I walked into streets and there I discovered this amazing sycamore tree.

And shameless girls carrying themselves proudly, enjoying summertime with ice-cream in a hand.

Old stranger asked me if I´m a tourist. -What are u doing here? he asked me. -Killing my time waiting for bus to come, I repplied. -If you want to kill time, there is folklore event up there.    -I don´t have that much time, I said uncompromisingly.                     And look where I got accidentaly. 🙂                         Kolovrátok folklore group performing under huge willow tree.

Communist party still rocks the town.

Old guy stopped at the time shop.

Would you like to stop here, too?

What kind of future do we have

Important thing nowadays (which I realized on my travels) is fact, that there are no limits. Especially when you´re young, coming from country that is relatively free, you have so many options.

Not talking only about all the youth exchange, Erasmus and volunteering programmes, which allow you to go anywhere. Following the right pages, sooner or later you´ll find the offer you need to find – to make a movie from Kosovo documentary festival or train to become part of one NGO in Macedonia. Most of these offers are almost for free – you pay max. 30% of your travel costs. Can you imagine what your parents would say (especially when you´re coming from former east block as I do)? It´s not fair.

Well, it´s not. On the other hand, not everything is bright. For example – insecurity we live nowadays – like my friend told me – most of young folks around me are lost. In present and especially in future. Still there exists principal conflict – should I go with the flow which dictates me what to do, when and how or cut the rope which ties me to these borders and leave them? Well, hardest fact to accept – it´s up to you.

Let go your fear

I used to be a fearful kid. Afraid to be myself, afraid of trying new things, do what I like. Becoming older you´re getting rid of these fears but still. Fear is my biggest enemy. Where does this fear come from? Is it my fear – or fear of my parents, ancestors, the society I live in?

I met a lot of people on my journey to Thailand – people with no plan, no future, let´s say. They were coming from travels – used to travel for years or months and now, coming home, little bit fearful what it will bring. But, who knows what future brings?

I met a guy, let´s call him Diego, he used to be lawyer in Argentina, safe future, nice girlfriend, nothing to worry about. But at the certain point in his life – he asked himself – is this what I want? No, was the answer. Somehow he moved to Australia, to work, to live, to travel, then go to India to practise yoga, then it happened he got offer from organisation teaching young people around the world to meditate. He was just following his “inner voice”, not thinking too much, not planning a lot, going with the flow of life. And so we met. You should see him. I bet you haven´t met so many people like him – free, open to anything, feeling comfortable with himself, shining like a star.  The way he talked, acted, was uncompromisingly straight. No fear, no hesitation, just pure faith. In life itself, in future, whatever it brings. I often think of him.

Leave your comfort home

But… It´s not necessary to leave your job, home, family and friends to change your life, you can start to do something different here, staying in your homeland. Sometimes it´s even harder to stay. Try to be more trustful, more happy. Look on the things you want to do and things you can do. Don´t ask if you´re good enough to go out with something you want. People are so easy to persuade – untill you´re persuaded. Leave your old habits, your zone. Your homeland is a safe place, we all know that, but also too dangerous to turn you into old, lazy, always complaining, grumpy daddy.

I´m telling this to myself everyday. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. At least it makes me think. And thinking can be the first step. But not thinking too much.
